An organic-phase biosensor based on paraffin/graphite modified with sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.) tissue as the source of peroxidase was developed and used for determining hydroquinone in cosmetic creams. This enzyme in the presence of hydrogen peroxide catalyses the oxidation of hydroquinone to p-quinone which electrochemical reduction back to hydroquinone was obtained at a peak potential of -0.22 V. The recovery of hydroquinone from two samples ranged from 99.1 to 104.1% and a rectilinear analytical curve for hydroquinone concentration from 7.5x10(-5) to 1.6x10(-3) M (r=0.9991) were obtained. The detection limit was 8.1x10(-6) M and relative standard deviation was <1.0% for a solution containing 7.3x10(-4) M hydroquinone and 1.0x10(-3) M hydrogen peroxide in 0.10 M tetrabutylammonium bromide methanol-phosphate buffer solution (95:5% v/v) (n=10). The results obtained for hydroquinone in cosmetic creams using the proposed biosensor are in close agreement with those obtained using a Pharmacopoeia procedure at the 95% confidence level. 相似文献

Neutron-rich Co and Fe isotopes produced by86Kr projectile fragmentation at 500 MeV/u were separated and identified using the fragment separator (FrS) in a bunched energy mode.66Co and65Fe ions were selectively implanted in a double PIN-diode array where the-decay signals were measured. The half-lives were deduced from time correlations between implantation and-decay signals. The remeasurement of the66Co half-life confirms the isotope identification. In this work, a hybrid silica/chitosan was synthesized and characterized by nitrogen elemental analysis and thermal analysis (TG, DTG, DTA, and DSC) and BET surface area. The hybrid was used in adsorption studies of two anionic dyes from aqueous solutions. A rise of temperature accelerates mass transfer of dyes into the hybrid. However, the maximum adsorption capacities reach similar values from 25 to 55 degrees C. The kinetic data were first evaluated in relation to the decrease of the time-related residual concentration of the dyes in solution, where the second-order model has presented the best fitting. The solid-phase interaction of dye data presents a rough fitting to the traditional first-order Lagergren kinetic model. However, a modified Avrami kinetic equation was successfully fitted to the kinetic quantities, where from five to seven kinetic regions were found. A pore-diffusion model has also demonstrated that the diffusion is the rate-controlling interaction mechanism. However, the experimental-calculated comparative values are the best way to evaluate a specific aqueous- or solid-phase kinetic model. 相似文献

Adsorption processes of Cu(II), Co(II), and Hg(II) on two aminated silica gel surfaces with immobilized ethylenediamine and diethylenediamine groups were studied by a new 2(3) full factorial design. Two metal quantity levels, temperatures of 25 and 50 degrees C, and silica amounts of 100 and 200 mg were employed. Our study indicates that higher factorial design levels increase adsorption for all metals evaluated, with the exception of the mass parameter. Adsorption is also significantly affected by important antagonistic and synergistic effects involving all factors. Both functionalized silica gel surfaces present higher interactions and good perspectives in preconcentration studies for mercury. A new reagent, 6-[2′-(6′-methyl-benzothiazolylazo)]-1,2-dihydroxy-3,5-benzenedisulfonic acid (Me-BDBD), was synthesised and
used in on-line and off-line systems for copper preconcentration by solid-phase extraction. Spectrophotometry and Flame Atomic
Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS) were the detection techniques. Polyurethane foam loaded with Me-BDBD packed in a minicolumn
was used as sorbent in both systems. The spectral characteristics of Me-BDBD were investigated. The optimum pH values for
maximum sorption of the metal are between 7.0 and 8.5. Copper was desorbed with 0.05 and 0.50 mol L−1 hydrochloric acid solutions, for on-line and off-line systems, respectively. The effects of several foreign substances on
the adsorption of copper are reported. The enrichment factors obtained were 7 (on-line) and 26 (off-line) for the systems.
The proposed procedures allowed the determination of copper with detection limits of 3.4 and 1.4 μg L−1 (0.85 and 0.35 μg per gram of sample) for on-line and off-line systems, respectively. The precision of the procedures was
also calculated: 3.2 (on-line) and 1.9% (off-line). The validation of the procedures was carried out by analysis of certified
reference material. The copper contents in corn and rice flour and black tea samples were determined by applying the proposed

A simple and reliable method for the determination of arsenic in sediment and in coal without sample digestion, based on hydride generation from slurry samples is proposed. After grinding the samples to a particle size of 50 μm, the sample powder was mixed with aqua regia and hydrofluoric acid in an ultrasonic bath for 30 min. After diluting the mixture with hydrochloric acid, the slurry was allowed to stand for 48 h, and an aliquot was used for hydride generation with sodium borohydride. More than 80% of the arsenic was leached to the aqueous phase under these conditions, except for one sediment sample with very high silica content. The generated arsine was collected in a graphite tube, treated with 0.5 mg of iridium as a permanent modifier, and the arsenic determination was carried out by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. The same tube could be used for at least 160 cycles without any re-treatment. The greatest advantage of the method was that only a minimum of reagents and sample handling were required, reducing the risks of contamination and/or analyte loss. However, the addition calibration technique had to be used in order to obtain results within the 95% confidence level for 11 certified reference materials, 5 sediments, 5 coals and one coal fly ash. One certified sediment slurry was spiked with the analyte and the resulting addition calibration curve was used for the analysis of the certified sediments. Similarly, one certified coal was used to obtain the addition calibration curve for the coal and coal fly ash samples. The recoveries of the certified values, except for one sediment, were between 91 and 115%. The limits of detection in the samples were 0.54 and 0.7 μg g−1 for the coal and sediment samples, respectively, obtained for 1 ml of slurry containing 1 mg of sample. 相似文献

The quantum yields for singlet oxygen generation of several squarylium cyanine dyes derived from benzothiazole, benzoselenazole and quinoline, displaying absorption within the so-called “phototherapeutic window” (600–1000 nm), were determined, envisioning their potential usefulness for photodynamic therapy (PDT). The determination was performed by a direct method measuring the luminescence decay of the dyes in the near infrared.
